Why Dura Tank?
You need a tank system that can stand up to harsh-environment conditions, deliver high-volume storage, be modular and serviceable, and guarantee water-quality and structural integrity. The Dura Tank delivers on these demands by combining:
- A robust shell of ZINCALUME® steel – alloy-coated for enhanced corrosion performance.
- A time-tested AquaGuard liner system, fully potable-water friendly and tailored for long-term installation.
- Modular, bolted construction allowing rapid on-site assembly, relocatability, scalable diameters & heights (up to 5 million litres).
- Local manufacturing and support via Aquadam’s network in South Africa + Africa, ensuring strong After-Sales, spare-part availability and lifecycle value.
Technical Specification Highlights
Structure: ZINCALUME® Steel Shell
Alloy coating composition: approx. 55% aluminium, 43.5% zinc and 1.5% silicon.
Minimum coating mass (typical): ~150 g/m²
(AZ150) and in heavier duty versions up to AZ200+ in corrosive environments.
Grade / yield strength examples: G550 (550 MPa)
or G300 (300 MPa) depending on product.
Base metal thicknesses: e.g., 0.42 mm, 0.48 mm or 0.60 mm depending on product design
Excellent forming capability, cyclone/high-wind performance, and durability well beyond standard galvanised steel. For example some tests show up to 4× life compared to Z275 galvanised steel.
Best practice installation:
Ensure cut-edges,
welds and penetrations are properly sealed/correct fasteners used.
Liner: AquaGuard (PVC Liner)
- Designed
for potable water contact: fully compliant with AS/NZS 4020:2005 for
drinking water contact.
- Base
fabric: 100% polyester plain weave scrim, manufactured to SANS 79
standard.
- Available
in heavier “720 g” (≈600 micron) versions for large tank installations.
- Weld-fabricated
seams (heat-welded), robust for long-term service life inside metal
shells.
- Prevents water-to-steel contact, thereby protecting the shell from internal corrosion and safeguarding water quality.
Exceptional Quality Design Codes & Standards

Capacity, Dimensions & Construction
- Available in a full range of diameters and heights, modular sectional format, up to 5 million litres for maximum scale projects.
- Flat-sheet panel construction (rather than corrugated or welded shell) enables efficient transport, on-site assembly and reclamping if relocation is required.
- Designed for ease of maintenance, inspection and future expansion.
Additional Features
Roof options available
to cap tanks, protect water from debris and reduce evaporation. (where required)
Foundations
Reinforced concrete ring-beam or equivalent base design as per site wind, seismic, soil conditions.
(Detailed engineer drawings available upon request.)
Access
Manholes, internal ladders, ventilation, and bird/rodent proofing optional.
Modular steel panel
Modular steel panel system allows relocation of tank, reduction or increase in capacity, thereby enhancing lifecycle asset flexibility.
Benefits at a Glance
Exceptional durability & corrosion resistance
Thanks to the ZINCALUME® shell, you’re investing in a long-life asset.
Water-safe internal environment
The AquaGuard liner ensures the water stays separated from steel, keeping water potable and protecting the structure.
Modular, relocatable design
Ideal for projects that evolve, relocate or expand.
Low maintenance, minimal downtime
Designed for ease of access, inspection and servicing.
Tailored to harsh environments
From remote farms to municipal reservoirs, the system can be engineered for wind, seismic, elevated sites.
Sustainability & lifecycle value
Steel is highly recyclable, shells and liners can be refurbished/re-lined as necessary, enhancing long-term asset value.
Typical Applications
- Municipal & community water storage (including rural village systems, co-operatives, eco-villages)
- Commercial & industrial process water storage
- Agricultural irrigation / farm storage (large-scale)
- Regenerative-farm systems (combined rainfall / runoff collection + potable-grade storage)
- Emergency resiliency & fire-suppression reservoirs
- Earth-dam abatement, remote-stand installations, mining or infrastructure support
