Build the business case for storage. Enter what a tank would cost, how much it holds and what water interruptions cost you now, and this works out the annual benefit, the payback period and the return over your chosen horizon.

Where the return actually comes from
Water you stop buying at emergency rates
Tankered water typically costs many times the bulk or municipal tariff. Storage lets you buy at the normal rate and draw down when supply fails, and the saving is the difference between the two prices.
Production and trade you do not lose
On a mine or a plant, an hour without process water has a known value. Storage converts an outage from a stoppage into a drawdown, up to the hours of autonomy the tank gives you.
Rain you already receive
Roof area multiplied by rainfall is water arriving free every year. Without storage it runs off. The calculator counts 80% of it, allowing for first flush and overflow.
The model deliberately discounts avoided losses rather than counting them in full, and deducts a 1% annual maintenance provision, so the result is a conservative case rather than a sales figure.
To size the tank behind these numbers use the water tank size calculator, and to choose a range see the range comparison.
